Gender errors in extraction translations for records in Hungarian
There are problems with many of the Hungarian records from around the turn of the century. Here's an example I came across today (you should know I find this problem nearly every day, and it is not an isolated incident). Take a look at P76D-B11:
When I bring up her birth record in sourcelinker, she appears as a son. When I checked the image for the birth record, it clearly states that the child is a daughter. However, if I click "View record" from source linker, the sex is listed as "Férfi" (Hungarian), meaning "Male" (English).
When I go back and check the information that was extracted, it reports that the sex was extracted as "F" for "Female", but when I look on the person details page, this is being translated back to Hungarian as "Ferfi" for "Male".
I think there is a translation problem in the software so when someone extracts a record as a female, somewhere that is getting truncated to "F" which is then translated to hungarian as "Ferfi" and the gender is reported as male, when it was written and extracted as female.
A couple other examples I've found include PW4N-GHD and PW4F-VQF, both stillborn female siblings. I added both of these recently using AI suggestions that came up for their father (GB5M-788) and they came up as sons, yet they are clearly recorded and apparently extracted as female

Thank you for bringing the topic of Hungarian translation to the discussion. Agreed this is a huge problem. The language template also chooses Unknown for Hungarian documents. The system needs to know Magyarország is Hungary. This auto update will make most names match as the system reads the name like an American name when it should be reading them as: Last name, first name for Hungarians. Thousands of records would then match.
The correct Hungarian alphabet must also be entered. All consonants have duplicate letters with Diacritical marks above them.
Lastly, Hungarian women are listed as the wife of their spouses. IE: Death records will state: Nagy Zoltáné with wife's maiden name scribbled below the record.
If you manage to update this site with the above changes for EU languages, the auto match will hopefully work with better accuracy. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to updates. Maria
