RE: Conflict-free data re place names - Germany

Many places in Germany are getting flagged for "not existing" prior to 1871 (date of formation of the German republic). However, these places existed for centuries prior to that date. For example, see ID #P9TB-CY7 (Johann W.M.F. Gollnow). Please refer this problem to your place-name group to get fixed. Thanks.

By request of FamilySearch teams in Germany, we have the country of Germany beginning at unification in 1871. Its constituent parts exist prior to that point as independent kingdoms, duchies, etc. Therefore, villages in Germany have additional historical periods. For example, one under Prussia (ending in 1871) and one under Prussia, Germany (starting in 1871).
We are aware that not every village has these earlier historical periods in place. We are working to rectify this, but we don't currently have editors reviewing places individually in Germany, so it is possible that some may still be missed. If you notice that a historical period is missing and would like it to be added, please email placefeedback@familysearch.org with the name of the place, and we will add the missing period.
In the example you provided "ID #P9TB-CY7 (Johann W.M.F. Gollnow)." we added an earlier historical period for the Village of Königsfelde. This can be seen at:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/research/places/?text=13055124&focusedId=13055124
You can now use this historical period to resolve the quality score. As noted above, please use placefeedback@familysearch.org as needed. We also appreciate resources we can use as citations, for these earlier historical periods.
