Matricula question
I was thrilled to see partial records for the Diocese of Wurzburg was released on 12/24/24. My ancestors are from Mombris, Baveria, Germany, and are in this Diocese. They state the following:
The approximately 6,000 official books from the parishes of the Diocese of Würzburg (i.e. parish registers, but also parish chronicles or brotherhood books), which will now be made available online step by step and in alphabetical order by the end of 2026, come from around 550 parishes. Since December 10, 2024, it is possible to research the parish registers from Aidhausen to Großwenkheim as well as Schweinfurt and Würzburg.
My questions are the following:
- What would be a guess on how long they will get to Mombris?
- Do they release these individually once they complete a parish or release them in batches?
- Why doesn't FamilySearch get in and help them? These are such vital records for Germany. It seems like FS releases millions of records each month, It seems crazy that it would take them 2 years to digitize 550 parishes records.
Any help to any of the above questions from those who are familiar with Matricula's process would be greatly appreciated. The parish link will show you all the towns.

When Looking in https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20204057 Alzenau On Meyersgaz , Some near by Alzenau protestant parishes are currently uploaded on Archeon. I'm almost wondering if you could find some of your ancestors already with Archeon.

My entire family from Mombris is definitely Catholic, so I unfortunately are at the mercy of Matricula to finally break through this brickwall. Because Matricula Alzenue records have been released, I have been checking in Alzenue, but struck out. I believe I am just going to have to wait till they release Mombris records.

@sylviaelchinger1 I've tried before and never heard back, but this was before they started publishing Wurzburg records. I just wrote them again. Thanks for your suggestion.
