Marriage Banns No. 33, Hrubieszow Parish, Parish Priest acting as the Officer of the Civil Records Office, Parafia Hrubieszow, Gmina and Powiat Hrubieszow, Wojewodztwo Lublin, we placed Marriage Banns on the doors of the Municipal Building at noon on the 10th July, Sunday, 1825, announcing for the first time and on the 17th of the same month and year for the 2nd time the Promise of Marriage between a Jew, Iser Landau, a bachelor, 19 years old, resident of Hrubieszow living with Mordka Szpira, he is son of Symcha and Chana Landan, living in town Żółkiew (now Ukraine, near Lviv, named Zhovkva), Austria, both supporting themselves as merchants, and of a Jewish maiden, Myrla Szpiserowna (daughter of Szpiser), 17 years old, daughter of Jews Moszek and Reyzla, married couple Szpizer, living in Hrubieszow, supporting themselves by being merchants, she lives with her parents. Those Marriage Banns were read aloud and clearly, and nailed to the doors of Gmina Building. Signed by the Parish Priest of Hrubieszow Civil Records Office.
The Jewish community in Zhovkva, Ukraine, was established in the 16th century and was an important part of the city until the Holocaust:
Early history
The first Jews settled in Zhovkva shortly after the town was founded in the 1590s. The Voivode of Ruthenia, Stanisław Żółkiewski, granted the Jewish community permission to build their first prayer house in 1600.
You may find this Żółkiew using pilot.pl, searching for Żółkiew but since there are some Żółkiews in Poland, adding to Żółkiewxx then when told there is no such place in Poland, eliminating xx and searching for Żółkiew in Ukraine.
