Request help finding DOD for Rosetta Viola (Alessandria, Italy)
I am trying to find out when my Grandma's cousin passed. The name is Rosetta Viola, born June 8, 1925 b. and d. in Alessandria, Italy. Her father is Riccardo Viola d. 1925 and her mother is Enrichetta Meda b. 1834 (d. unk.) Rosetta's address that she lived in since birth is/was: Via M. Posulio 2, Casale Monferrato, Alessandria, Italia. Any help you could provide on her DOD and cemetary location would be great. My grandmother, almost 95, has been asking.

Lisa:
A couple of things. Due to changes in privacy laws, anything from about 1925 on will not be available online. You'll need to write a letter to the Comune and request the records. They should have them.
If you need help writing the letter in Italian, ChatGPT is a good resource. It writes beautiful and appropriate letters in Italian, but make sure to double check any address it gives you using a search engine.
As far as cemeteries go, I wouldn't count on finding a grave. Graves in Italy are not permanent. After a certain amount of time, they remove the bones and place them in an ossuary, and reuse the grave. Land is limited, and cemeteries can't expand. How often they reuse grave sites depends on local need and other factors, such as the length of the "lease."
