The record is in Latin for the Catholic Church. But I'll try asking there again.

That's great and all, but not all church records are similar. Different localized vocabulary is often used in different countries (German records tend to throw in German surname endings and professions), and someone who does Italian research is not going to know surnames and location names in Germany. There is an excellent resource for learning how to navigate parish records:
