Hi Ruth, thanks for the welcome message. My paternal ancestors are from Bohemia and Moravia and until the last couple of years I haven't had much luck finding records from Czechia. The problem, I do not read or speak Czech, but the FamilySearch BMD records and the WIKI record finder have been a big help.
Grandfathers ancestors are Hubka, Driml, Dostal, Zagreb, Smajser and Jetmar from Vysoke Myto and area. I have some records back to the 1700's. My grandfather came to New York in 1892 and to Canada in 1904. Grandmothers ancestors are Horava, Hudec and Adamec from South Moravia. The Horava family came to Texas in 1887 and my grandmother came to Canada on 1907.
I have been doing genealogy for about 30 years and DNA research for the last couple of years. I use FamilySearch, AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and GEDmatch.
At this point I don't have any questions.

Czechia records are usually in German with a smattering of Czech in the later records. Early records are in Latin. You do not need to know these languages. You do need to know how to read the Kurrent Script. There is info on Kurrent Script on the Resouce list on the main page of Czechia Community. Do you have any FamilySearch ID numbers for your lines you are interested in solving?
