How to decide which is the correct Baptism Record?

I found two Baptism records in the same town of Hirschaid that could apply to Johann Sauer married in 1742. One Baptism in 1714 and one in 1718, both with same names for parents. Which one to choose, the 28 year old or the 24 year old?

The first thing I would do is check for a death for a Johann Sauer between 1714 and 1718 to determine if the 1st child with that name may have died early. Families often gave the same name to another child, especially if it honored an important ancestor.

There is a June 1717 death record for a 2 and 1/2 year old Johann Saur here (bottom right)
