Need help in Salt Lake City Libary!
Hey dear researchers,
i need help! Is someone in the nearer future in the Salt lake City Center and can look something for me up? It is the possible entry of the birth of my great grandmother in this record:
I hope that the birth is recorded in this church book due to so many lost church books in now poland because of ww2 and history. I know her name and birthday as well as the supposed birth place.
I live in Germany and it is impossible for me to come and sadly familysearch is not longer sending the microfinches to other familysearch centers.
Kind regards
Bienvenue !

Are you looking for Katholische Kirche Köppernig (Kr. Neisse) ? Physical films have not been sent for years - most have been digitized. You don't have to travel to SLC - just your nearest Family History Centre: the camera symbol with a key above indicates that the images cannot be viewed from home - just one of these centres.

As WSeelentag has explained, the camera symbol with a key above indicates the images can be viewed online at a center. After clicking the symbol, if the message directs you to a FamilySearch center or affiliate library this is not an error.
The problem is, when one clicks the symbol associated with the film you are interested in, there is a different error message: "Image Unavailable This image is unavailable for online viewing at this time", which obviously does not direct you to a center or affiliate library.
I contacted FamilySearch Support about the error message, and their response was that this message should clear in time, then the images will be available online at a center (they sent me the link to a FS article explaining what is happening - see the link below). So, I suggest that you check the images from time to time to see if the error message is no longer there.
The best scenario is that the images will become available online soon; However, if this is not soon enough, let me know. The library might have the film and if so, I will try to find the baptism record for you when I have a chance to go there.

Hello,
I checked the film again and unfortunately got the same message: Image Unavailable … .
I am going to the FamilySearch library fairly soon, and will try to find your great-grandmother's birth record. What is her name, birth date, and supposed birth place?

OK, @JuleBosse, I got your message that gives me the needed information about your great-grandmother. I will be going to the library in Salt Lake City later this month. While there, I will check the "Katholische Kirche Köppernig (Kr. Neisse)" film number 8021050 for her baptismal record.

Hi Debra,
did you already had time to visit the centeR?0 -
Hi @JuleBosse
Yes, I had a chance to visit the SLC library recently, and I looked for your great-grandmother's baptismal record in the year 1896 in Köppernig (film number 8021050), but unfortunately did not find it. Then I looked for her baptism in a wider range of years (1892 to 1900), but still did not find it. I thought that your great-grandmother perhaps was baptized in a neighboring parish, so I checked Meyers Gazetteer (the parish information is under the tab named "Ecclesiastical") https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10668067, and the parishes of Bielau, Wiesau and Kalkau are close to Köppernig. The FamilySearch film for Beilau only has baptisms in the years 1714 to 1765, which is much to early. I looked in Wiesau (film number 8018123, page 2 of 3) https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/303699, in the years 1895 to 1897, but unfortunately did not find your great-grandmother's baptism there. The film for Kalkau (film number 7769579) https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/541567 was not available to view the day I visited the library. So, before I responded back to you, I had planned to visit the library again to check for her baptism in Kalkau. That is a part of the reason for my delayed response.
Now that we know that your great-grandmother's baptism is not in Köppernig, do you have any ideas of other possible parishes?
Debra
