Does changing the name on a record affect the ordinance?
I'm working on a family where a member was put into the system as one name, say Adam Jones, but in looking at the document and other records, the name was Samuel (yes, the record's handwriting was that bad). They have all of their ordinance work done as Adam. Do I need to create a new person for ordinances under the correct name, or can I correct the name and not worry, because the ordinances follow the FSID number?

I believe that if you are sure that this is the right person and not a brother or other relative, then it is okay to change the name on their details page. Do you have sources to validate the information that you have? It sounds like his ordinance work will be accepted.

That's what I thought. I remember being told a long time ago that the ordinances follow the ID#, not the name. So as long as it is the same person, and you're just correcting the name, that it's fine. Thank you for the confirmation.
