Help needed with parish register, Norway 1742
Right page, top, a little note about Elizabeth ?, Rocland, and again at the very bottom of the page. Can't read the surname, or tell the date. Is it a child or an adult?
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Nordland, 847/L0662: Parish register (official) no. 847A02, 1735-1749, p. 26
Searching for death record of Eliz. Helgesdatter Rokland in 1742. There are very few burials recorded in these pages. Perhaps there was another book?
Thank you again.

For the entry at the top of the page, the name appears to be Elisabet Hellesd(atter) Røcland. Helle is a variant of the name Helge, so Helgesdatter would also be correct. I believe it is about "communion in ____________(a place)". It doesn't appear to be a death record. The date just below the entry is Septuagesima, 21 January 1742, but I don't think that is the date of the entry. It could/should be the same date as the previous entry, but I am not certain of what that date is-possibly 2nd Sunday past Epiphany (14 January).
The name at the bottom of the page is the same name, but it doesn't appear to be a death record either. The date for that entry is Fastelavens Sondag, which in 1742 is 4 February.

Thank you. Any idea of what this means? The writing around her name on the bottom of the page?

I presented your problem to the Nordic staff at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City yesterday and I learned a bunch!
The record at the bottom of the page actually is a death record, but it is presented in a way that I hadn't seen before and very few of the staff had come across.
The entry at the bottom of the page reads:
"Fastelavens Søndag guds tiennst
Fore i d. K. Liig prediken
Liig nedsat Elizabet
Hellesdatter Røcland
____________"
The translation is:
Fastelavens Sunday (4 February) Sunday service (literally-"God's service")
was carried out in the church a funeral sermon (lit. -"corpse sermon")
burial (of) Elizabet
Hellesdatter Røcland
____________ ".
Sorry, we were not able to determine the meaning of the last line.

Thanks so much to you and the library staff. May I quote the translation on her person page?
Does this record reflect a high status in the parish? I have a page of Saltdal: Gård og Slekt that describes Elizabet and her husband as a relatively wealthy couple.

You are welcome! Of course you may quote the translation-that would be great. As far as the status of the family, I can't tell anything about that from this death record.
