Does anyone have recommendations on how to find a marriage record for Domenico Pietramala and France
My guess is there is a church record from San Pietro but I am unsure if it has been filmed and would be available on some site. Thanks for the help.

Check the FamilySesrch catalog to verify but I am fairly certain that records on film for Paterno only go back to the early 1800s. You might look for a Proscetti file (civil records) for the marriage of one of their children...it might be in there but that's a long shot. Your best bet is to find it in Church Archives at the Diocese or church itself. assuming the records survived past disasters in the area. I have also found it worthwhile to consider hiring a local researcher for a day to photograph original records in situations like this. But I would have a list of more than one record that you need to provide that researcher and as much information as possible such as exact date, patents names, childrens names, birth year, etc.

Hello Marijeanne, this is a wonderful reply that I appreciate very much. You are correct about no records before 1809. Based on the children's marriages I believe I know the church. I'll try some more research and see what I can come up with. Thanks again.

Hi Tom..the reason I suggested a child's Proscetti (or Allegati) civil records is because very often those files contain church records for the parents. The proscetti was a collection of records a couple must present to the Comune to prove a number of things like no impediments, proof their parents were married, the death record of a previous spouse if applicable, death records of parents, baptism records, etc.. All of these records proved (or highlighted) if there were any impediments to the marriage. If you can find the Proscetti file for one of their children, the document you seek(plus more!) may be in the file.

Similarly, if you have any civil marriage or birth records for the children of Domenico and Francesca in Paterno Calabro, it may give the name of the church, which would likely be the same church where the parents married. Then you would need to write to the church to request a copy of the record.
Currently the Archdiocese of Cosenza-Bisignano shows only one church in the town:

It may also be that the document is from a now-closed church, so in that case you would want to contact the diocesan archive:

Hello again Marijeanne and thank you so very much for your kind reply. I do have many images of the children of this marriage so I will comb them carefully for clues. I am ignorant regarding the Proscetti so I'll take some time to do the research and see what I can glean from that information.
Kind regards, Tom G

Hello Cousin Vinny and thank you also for your kind reply. I do know the name of the church (Il Parroco della Chiesa di San Pietro) where all of the marriages and baptisms of the children of this marriage took place in the early 1800s. So I will follow your recommendations and links and see if I can research that way.
Kind regards, Tom G.
