Hi there, any advice where I can find an Italian birth record? b. 1872 (+/-3yrs)
...I have an ancestor 'Lorenzo Salvoni' b.circa 1872 (+/-3yrs), d. 1945 in Worcester UK. I see him on various UK Census all who have his nationality as Italian. I can find no details of him or his parents and seem to be at a wall. Anecdotally I believe the family originated from Ancona/Jesi area, but I have no documentation to support that...any suggestions where to begin? Any help or guidance much appreciated (I'm fairly new to Family History ) )Thank you.

Have you tried immigration records? Start with immigration near the earliest census you find him on. If he came with a family member they are usually listed together on ship registers. Are all the census records where you find him in Worcester--do those records indicate his occupation? Sometimes occupation can be a clue to origin--if the family were bakers, vintners, etc. they may have had the same occupations in Italy and it would help narrow family down since Salvoni is a pretty common name in Italy.
