I think this film answered a lot of the questions. There are many reasons why you would not know your heritage or it would not show up in DNA and the film covered those questions. In my experience a lot of why you would have a hard time proving lineage could be answered in the tribal affiliation. Some tribes did mix more than others. I am familiar with the Tribal regions in Utah. Mainly Navajo. I have seen less intermarriage but there is rumors in certain clans that there was intermixing. I know many times it was not recorded in the census or it was hidden due to the fact it was not considered acceptable. making it impossible to find out any other way than DNA or rumor which as we know does not help us find our family lines. It is a difficult quest to find Native Ancestry because of many reasons however the fact the records were not always correct makes it doubly hard. I hope you are able to trace your heritage and find your family line that is connected if you haven't already.
