@will watkins1 There should be a manual for the printer in the FHC hopefully, but if not, just do an online search to find the manual for the specific brand/model of printer you have in your FHC. Basically however, if it's the Lexmark printer there is a selection on the control panel window on the top of the printer for scanning. Stick your USB drive in the USB port on the front panel of the printer and then choose what you're scanning (photo, document, etc.). I'm not at the FHC, and don't remember the specifications, but from what I've seen the scan quality is pretty decent.
You can also use the "Scan to FamilySearch" function on the control panel window to scan photos and documents and directly upload them to your FamilySearch account from the printer. They will show up in your "Gallery" on FamilySearch and you can then go into your computer and move them wherever you want to a Person page, album, etc. I STRONGLY recommend getting a spare computer keyboard and plugging it in the BACK USB port (rear of the printer - NOT the front USB port), and using that to enter your user name and password for FamilySearch login. The printer keypad in the control window is VERY error-prone!
