Please help me find mother/father/wife names in military record.
I have the funeral card for great-uncle, Heinrich Klein, who died in WWII in 1939. I found this German WWII record with matching birthdate and location, Wetterfeld near Roding, Bavaria. Here is what I've been able to establish (after taking Charlotte's wonderful class):
Column-2: Rank: First Lieutenant
Col-3: Name: ??? Josef Klein
Col-4: Religion: Catholic
Col-5: Born: Strahlfeld, near Roding, Bavaria, on 30-Jan-1871
Col-6: Occupation: Farmer and Innkeeper in Wetterfeld
Col-7: Wife & children: Barbara, born Proisshen ???, 4 children
Col-8: Parents: Deceased (wife or mother) Katharine, born Pusl, farmer in Wetterfeld
There is more below columns 7 & 8 that I don't understand -- perhaps her death occurred on 30-Apr-1918? OR he remarried on 30-Apr-1918?
Col-10,14,15: Remarks: I don't understand -- perhaps he is buried at Wohlfarth?
I appreciate your assistance. Donna

You are FANTASTIC! Thank you. I didn't know the great-grandfather's name was Michael. I have a question. Please help me understand HOW you know Preisser is a name in Wetterfeld. I don't find any records from there.

This is one of my tricks:-)
sometimes looking up names and places in the German phone book helps
maybe you have to go to <google.de> first. My computer is used going to google accounts from different countries. The information one gets is more country specific
