Could someone please tell me what the place of birth is for Johan Plitt in this general muster roll? For most of the other soldiers it says Bohus län, but his seems to say something different.

Hi @Tanner Blair Tolman​ I think it's Dal which is abbreviated for Dalsland. Unfortunately they always wrote the name of the province (landskap) as the birthplace. For that matter it could be abbreviated for Dalarna but since you are in Bohuslän regimente I would think it was for Dalsland because Bohus län and Dalsland are neighboring provinces. The province of Dalsland is the northern part of Älvsborg county.

Thanks so much for looking at this. He is my end of line ancestor and has an exact birth date but there are no good matches anywhere in the parish they lived which is Svarteborg, this at least tells me I am not in the right area.

Also the wiki says before the 19th century Dalsland was just called Dal and this is from 1788 so your answer makes total sense.
