Finding my mother's birth mother
My mother, Lucia Amiti was born Rome, Italy (Via Anicia) on the 24th August 1938. She was christened at St Francesco a Ripa. She was a foster child and never knew her real parents. She passed away 31 Dec 2018. I have done searches with no success. Any information you can provide is greatly accepted. She always wanted to know where she came from before she died. Grazie

Lucia,
As far as I know there are several ways to get the information abut your mother's parents:
1 - The "main road" is making an appeal to the Court of Rome. This is the surest, but you may need a local lawyer and it may take quite a long time, especialy now with the Covid-generated issues.
Here is the mail address of a law firm specialized in adoptions: adozioni@professionistilegali.it.
This is their website
http://www.professionistilegali.it/adozione/ladottato-diritto-conoscere-le-proprie-origini/
Remark: i found this address on the web, so I cannot guarantee how they work.
2 - you can try making an appeal via some specialized websites like this one: https://www.figliadottivicercanogenitoribiologici.it/tag/roma/
3 - The Municipality of Rome has an archive of adoptions. Until recently, access was restricted for 100 years after the event, however I read that recently there has been a more flexible interpretation, so you might write to them and find out more:
There might be also other ways that I am not aware of.
Other contributors to this blog might also provide their advice.
Good luck with your search!
Paolo
