On the 12th of November 1820 in the town hall of Sint-Eloois Vijve, it's the local (low raking) policeman Jan Baptiste Acx, 58 years, declaring (and brings with him and shows) a male child, illegitimate, born today 12 November 1820 at 7 AM to Francisca van Averbeke. She's 24 years old and a spinster (profession), living in that same Sint-Eloois Vijve.
Witness there present are Ludovicus Keirsbilck, 25 years, sexton and Philipus jacobus Lefevere, 32 years, countryman.
Note: these witnesses in civil records of that time, at least for births, usually have no relation or meaning to the family. Many a times the local brewer, inn-keeper or sexton or alike, whomever is ready at hand, willing for a pint in the local pub to be present at town hall.
