Who is the father?
Can someone please translate the September 1825 birth record of Matthias (MVX7-QXM) from the parish records of Astrup, Ning, Århus, Denmark?
His mother Maren Christophersdatter’s ( KZBD-X69 ) husband Mathias Jensen (LLM4-SNT) died 31 January 1824 in the same parish, yet his name appears on Matthias’ 1825 birth & baptism record. If the dates are accurate Mathias Jensen cannot be the father. Perhaps I have some of the dates wrong?
I have attached the parish record.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lorrie

This child, Matthias was illegitimate. The record is saying Maren Christophersdatter was the widow of Mathias Jensen. It was the same information on his confirmation record.

I asked others for help with translation of the comments. "erkærede før og efter Fødslen at være bleven voldtaget." Translated as, acknowledged before and after giving birth to being ****. I"m sorry about this.

What tragic news. I have always felt that something wasn’t right with Matthias’ birth entry and now I know why.
Thank you for going the extra mile and giving me more information. You are awesome.

Thank you for your kind words. I hesitated to give the details but we want the truth don't we. You were impressed to find the answer so the story of these individuals can be accurately told. I believe Maren and her child would want to be understood.
