I need help interpreting a few mantalslänger records.
Most of the early parish records in Ask, Malmöhus parish were destroyed. I have been trying to use the mantalslänger records for this parish.
SVAR has the majority of them. They are spotty on ArkivDigital.
I am following Nils Ohlsson or Olsson listed in No. 8. There are a few that I need help interpreting.
All of them are on SVAR:
1771, pg. 553 ????
1776, pg. 737 -- Nils Olsson, wife, ???? and 2 barn
1794; pg. 747 -- Nills Ohlsson, wife; ? farmhand, Nills, daugs. Marja [Marna on other records] and Ellna, 14 years
Thank you for any help you can offer, Rebecca

I will look at this but you can learn more about the mantalslangder on a webinar I did for FamilyTree webinars. "Using Swedish Tax Records to Solve Tough Genealogical Questions." There is a cost of $10 for a month of viewing of all of the webinars.

Ask is the parish; Malmöhus is the County. There are two Ask parishes in Sweden. I recommend you include the court district to fully describe the parish you are talking about--Onsjö
1771 on p. 553, farm no. 8: I only see a dayworker (Dr.) named Nils with no by-name listed.
1776, p. 737, farm #8: Nils Olsson and his wife, unnamed, are both taxable (2t), a female dayworker, Karen, is taxed (1t). He has two underaged children, not taxed, names not recorded.
1794, p. 747, farm #8: Nils Ohlsson and wife (2t), both taxable; a male dayworker Nils (1t), taxable; daughter Marja (j is often same as an i= Maria), taxable (1t); and Ellna, 14 years old. I am not sure what the note in the comments section is saying but I think it is a record of where Nils, the dayworker came from.
I have found the most farmers lied about the age of their children to avoid the tax. It is very possible that Ellna is more than 14 years old. Maria is definitely older than 15 or she wouldn't be taxed.
Hope this helps.
