Where should I go to for information (baptism record?) on an orphan abandoned at Venice around 1847? All the info I have comes from his marriage records, linked below (Giovanni Nisi).
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Start from this link that leads to the patriarchal archive of Venice, where the archives of the "Casa degli esposti" (house of the exhibited) are kept. obviously at the beginning you will have to juggle with Italian.

Dear Giovanni,
Thank you for your reply and info!
Since those sources are not available for online consultation, do you know if the Venetian Archives offer any kind of research service? Or are those records available really only by local consultation? I could not find this kind on info on their website...If that is the case, do you happen to know any local genealogists who could perform that search for me, under reasonable fees?
Thanks again!

I have no Personal contacts with anyone from the archive.
however at the site:
http://www.archiviostoricodelpatriarcatodivenezia.it/contatti
find information on how to contact them and make direct requests
or write directly to the e-mail address
archiviostorico@patriarcatovenezia.it
many pages of the patriarchate site are also in English and you may find other indications, even on how to obtain personalized searches
