Would you explain the relationships in the attached probate.
Anders Engebretsen Bundeli GSF8-FFZ married the daughter of Nils Tollefsen Røe GSN4-K83. Anders and his wife (first name unknown) Nielsdatter GSNH-91H lived on Høve Farm in Øystre Slidre and had one son Nils Andersen Høve. Is the attached probate related to this family? Would you explain the relationships on the probate dated 15 Feb 1740, for Barbro Narvesdtr Høve in Rogne in Øystre Slidre?

Hi Diane,
The probate index card says there is a probate of the deceased Barbro Narvesdatter and her surviving spouse Ole Jonsen that was done on 15 February, 1740 at the Hofve and Rogne farm in Østre Slidre. The card also indicates the heirs are 3 cousins meaning they did not have biological heirs. One cousin whose name is unknown but had a son Anders Engebretsen. In parenthesis it says "indviklet" meaning complicated. I looked up the actual probate and yes it's complicated, see https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/25286/194?indexing=
In reading through the preamble to pull out genealogical information, I extracted and wrote up the meaning as follows:
Probate and division in behalf of the deceased Barbro Narvesdatter, between her and surviving husband Ole Jonsen with which the deceased had no living descendants. Her closest heirs are therefore her 3 cousins children who are descendants of her fathers sister and mothers brother and mothers sister. Her fathers sister whose name is unknown but is dead had a daughter by name Barbro Bjørnsdatter who is dead but survived by a son by the name Anders Engibretsen who is also dead but survived by 2 children by the names Niels Andersen 12 years old and Anna Andersdatter 10 years old. The deceased’s mothers brother who is likewise deceased Mikel Pedersen died and survived by 2 daughters, the first is Sigri Mikelsdatter deceased but survived by 3 children namely 1 son and 2 daughters, the son Peder Hove who is of age, daughter Anne Nielsdatter deceased but survived by 2 daughters Ragndi and Anbiør Knudsdatter both unmarried and the daughter Ingebor Nielsdatter now a widow and second daughter Aagaat Mikelsdatter who is deceased but survived by 1 son and 1 daughter namely Niels Halvorsen who is of age and Ragndi Halvorsdatter who is unmarried. The deceased's mothers sister Helge Pedersdatter who is deceased but survived by 1 son Alf Tostensen who is dead but survived by 3 sons and a daughter namely Tosten, Mikel, and Joen Alfsen all of age and the daughter Helge Alfsdatter married to Guldbrand Joensen.
Is this the same family in FamilyTree? With this evidence, you can sort through the relationships mentioned in the probate to decide if this is the right family or not.
Best Regards,
Geoff
