Error message when trying to merge duplicate child
The message says a child cannot be merged with her parent, but they show as siblings, not parent and child.

Good morning @sjllayton Could you share the PID (profile identifying code) so we can take a look? Sometimes the message is not as clear as we might hope.

Since a parent and child would never show up as a possible duplicate, I assume you must be using merge by ID. Are you copying and pasting the ID or trying to type it in?
If copying and pasting be sure that when you copied the "sibling's" ID that it really did copy. If it didn't you might still have the parent's ID on your clipboard. I've certainly had that happen before to me. And, of course, be sure you copied the correct ID.
If you are trying to type in the ID, don't. Copy and paste instead.
