1 the unmarried shoemaker Johann Baptist Ott, personally recognized, Catholic religion, born on 26 May 1867 in Mannheim, residing in Mannheim, T 4 16, son of the shoemaker Ludwig Ott and his wife Magdalena nee Hönig, both residing in Mannheim

2 the unmarried Henriette Staudt, personally known, Catholic religion, born on 8 January 1870 in Schwetzingen, residing in Mannheim, daughter of the whitewasher Christian Staudt and his wife Susanna nee Gängel, both residing in Schwetzingen

In the presence of the witnesses the Civil Registrar asked the engaged couple individually and one after the other, the question

whether they declare that they want to be married to each other.

The engaged [couple] answered yes to this question and thereupon the civil registrar declared that by the power of the law they are now legally married husband and wife.

Can you explain note 2, 3 and 4, the following is what I think it means:

Note 2 - a son with initial H. was born on 9 Sep 1914

Note 3 - he was married on 1938, record 44, but what is Blaubeuren? a town, the maiden name of his wife? How can I find this record. May it be in Mannheim also?

what is B 91/1940?

Note 4 - did Johan Baptist Ott or his son H. died on 23 May 1952, record no. 69

The H has nothing to do with a person's name - it stands for Hinweise or (further) reference. This is one type of marginal note that appears in civil registration records, and gives additional information about the person(s) in the record beyond that pertaining to the original event. The other type of marginal note is called Randvermerk and is used to correct information in the original record, e.g. if the mother's maiden name was spelled incorrectly and the correct name is noted in the margin.

Margin note 2 says a son was born on 21 September 1914 in Mannheim. It doesn't give the record number for the birth, but you could find the record based on the date alone. Note that German privacy laws do not allow the release of birth records until 110 years after the date of the birth. So theoretically a 1914 record should be available now in 2025. You will probably have to write to the Standesamt for the record, because it may not be available online yet.

Margin note 3 is for the marriage in 1938, which took place in Blaubeuren. Again, German data privacy laws do not allow for the release of marriage records until 80 years after the fact, so you'll face the same issue as with the birth record. The marriage record number is 44, so it's the 44th marriage recorded for 1938 in Blaubeuren. You should be able to get the record even without knowing the associated names of the bride and groom based on this information alone.

It's unclear to me what the B 91/1940 refers to. It could possibly refer to the birth of a child from this marriage, given the timing two years later. The record number is the 91st event of that type in 1940, possibly also in Blaubeuren?

As for margin note 4, this refers to (person) #1 in the original record, so it records the death of the husband Johann Baptist Ott, not his son. Death records are released 30 years after the event, so you may be able to find this one online.
