My Full Opinion on the New Memories Page
Hi, I know this page has probably been flooded with very similar posts but I still wanted to offer my feedback.
I love old photographs and I buy all the ones I can find from my local area and upload them here to try to find family for them; all that to say that the memories page is a huge part of what I use FamilySearch for. I use it essentially every day, so the new UI layout on the memories page caught me by surprise. I have to say, I think this is a huge downgrade.
It is a lot less functional now. You used to be able to see a lot more of your uploads previously. I'm not sure if this is universal, but both on my desktop and laptop, I was always able to see nine from side to side in each row. Being able to see more memories at once is useful for finding, sorting, and locating specific images. If I want to see a memory closer, I will click on it. There is no need to make the thumbnail images in the gallery bigger.
Jumping off of that, everything is larger now. The top bar, the side bar, the buttons, fonts—everything. I think this should be toggleable. It would definitely be useful for those who can't see as well, but for my personal experience, I find this a bit annoying. It feels like there's a lot of wasted space taken up by unnecessarily large buttons, margins, and text. The larger option should (in my opinion) be on by default with the ability to revert it to smaller icons and text.
The biggest gripe I have with it is the fact that the reordering function is gone. For the amount of photos I need to keep track of, this makes things very difficult very quick. If I can't organize pictures in an album I created, then I will inevitably lose track of where everything is and related photos can't be put next to one another. I was about to start uploading a very large set of images (approx. 300) for various profiles. Because they all belong together, they'd go in the same album. However, some images are connected to the same event and I would like them to be next to each other in the gallery. That way, whenever myself or others view said album, it's immediately obvious that they belong there for that reason.
The worst part is, the memories that I used to have organized, are suddenly completely undone, sorted in the order that they were uploaded. Thankfully by reverting to the old version of the page, it fixes itself, but I don't know how much longer that option will continue to exist.
I can understand wanting to refresh the UI. I think overall I prefer the look of the older version, but the new version isn't bad per se. Things change, and I'm okay with that. That being said, the way things are right now, at best disrupts the flow of my work, and at worst completely undoes some of it. I would urge your development team to take a little longer to consider this update site-wide.
I'm currently very disappointed with the changes being made. This website is an extremely useful resource and I'd hate for it to be less functional compared to where it is now.
Best, Aspen

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Your ideas are valuable and will be shared with our Engineers.
As described in our "How to use the new Gallery," yes, the icons are larger. Though not ideal for everyone, the Enigneers did make their decision based on user feedback. But thank you for suggesting the idea to make the scale optional.
Yes, the "reorder" function in albums has been removed. However, the engineers are well aware that many have requested the return of this function. Please have patience with our Enigeers and the free tools they are providing.
As soon as I hear more back about the "Reorder" function, I will let you know.
Thank you again.

Just wanted to share a quick update…
The "Reorder" feature of the Memories Album will return. However, there is no promised date; Engineers are still working on this.
For those who worry that the order they had previously organized inside their Album has been lost, rest assure, the order has NOT been lost. When "Reorder" returns, your Album will be sorted as you had previously organized.
