thank you both for the website info. County Antrim is a possibility . My ancestor elizabeth was born in wigtown scotland in 1740 , so early . however , if her surname is Irish then Ireland is the place for me to research . best wishes .

I am from County Antrim. Miskelly is a frequently encountered name in this part of the world. I would always have considered Miskelly to be clearly an Irish name and never would consider it to have any Scottish links.
