Translation of the complete marriage record:
No. 195.
(List of Marriage Proclamations, No. 156.)
Ludwigshafen am Rhein, on the 31st of March 1923.
Before the undersigned civil registrar appeared today for the purpose of marriage:
(1) the factory worker Martin Kraus, personally known, born 28 January 1901 in Offenbach am Main, Hesse, Birth Register no. 133 in the Civil Registration Office in Offenbach am Main, residing in Ludwigshafen, Rohrlachstrasse 17;
(2) Frieda Elisabetha Beilstein, "Stations-mädchen", personally known, born 3 July 1899 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Birth Register no. 1071 in the Civil Registration Office in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, residing in Ludwigshafen, Kaiser Wilhelmstrasse 47.
[Page 2]:
As witnesses were called and appeared:
(3) the detective inspector Peter Schneider, personally identified by the witness Beilstein [no. 4 below], 44 years old, residing in Frankenthal;
(4) the tailor Ernst Beilstein, personally known, 25 years old, residing in Ludwigshafen.
The registrar asked the betrothed individually and one after the other the question: whether they want to marry each other. The betrothed answered in the affirmative to this question and the registrar hereupon responded that by virtue of the Civil Code they are now legally married spouses.
Read aloud, approved, and signed:
Martin Kraus
Frieda Kraus, née Beilstein
Peter Schneider
Ernst Beilstein
The Civil Registrar, represented by: Kirsch.
My comment: I am not familiar with the occupation "Stations-mädchen". Some research indicates it might be a nurse or aide in a hospital ward.
