Questions for Family Group Trees - For training
Hi Folks,
One of our team members for APAC asked these questions re: FamilYGroups Trees.
1. How do we get the slides for the Hotlinks 2. Do the deceased records go to the tree automatically? 3. Can anyone in the group add memories or other information, or does it have to be the person themselves.
4. When a person is marked as deceased, and all the memories are put on FS, do the Tags remain the same, (Private, public, limited access. 5. Activities - If marked as personal and not shared with those in the group, what happens to them when the person is deceased.
Thank you for all comments, which will help a lot

These are great questions.
first, I'm not sure what you mean by
How do we get the slides for the Hotlinks
Can you explain what you mean or send a screenshot? Follow these instructions to upload a screenshot.
2. Do the deceased records go to the tree automatically?
Yes. All deceased profiles exist in the FamilySearch Tree. If you are in a Family Group Tree when you create a profile for a deceased person, it is stored in the FamilySearch Tree and connected to individual(s) in your Family Group Tree. (If you have some of the same living people in your private Person List, you may want to connect that same deceased individual to those profiles as well.)
3. Can anyone in the group add memories or other information, or does it have to be the person themselves.
Anyone in the group can add any information or memories to any profile in the Family Group Tree. This is one reason that we recommend using Family Group Trees for close relatives, so that you don't end up sharing lots of information on folks that aren't very closely related. (I wouldn't make a Family Group Tree that has both my cousins AND my husband's cousins because they don't know each other and wouldn't need to see information on each other.)
4. When a person is marked as deceased, and all the memories are put on FS, do the Tags remain the same, (Private, public, limited access. )
You've got it exactly. When someone is marked as deceased (whether it is FamilySearch marking a user as deceased or someone marking a Family Group Tree profile as deceased) all the memories attached to that record remain at whatever status they were originally set. However, if you are marking a Family Group Tree profile deceased, you can still change the visibility of any memories that you personally have attached to that profile. Example: My grandfather is part our Family Group Tree. My grandfather dies. We notify FamilySearch that he has died and FamilySearch marks his personal profile as deceased. His personal profile is now visible in FamilySearch Tree. All of the memories that Grandpa submitted (attached to himself or any other profile) are now locked to whatever visibility he set them at. Now, I mark his profile in our Family Group Tree as deceased. That profile is now visible in FamilySearch Tree and I can merge this Family Group Tree profile with his personal profile that FamilySearch marked deceased. Any memories that Grandpa attached to his Family Group Tree profile are locked to whatever visibility he set. BUT any memories that I have attached to his profile, I can still change the visibility. I could now make all of the memories that I attached visible to the Public, if I chose to do so.
5. Activities - If marked as personal and not shared with those in the group, what happens to them when the person is deceased.
Any activities that were not shared to a Family Group will only be visible in the owner's Together Stories. You can view your completed stories (and see their visibility) by clicking the 'Completed' switch:
Thank you for all of these questions! When you ask questions, it pinpoints where our instructions are not clear and helps us make this tool better for everyone!
