How can I move living people OUT of a Family Group Tree and into the FamilySearch Tree (for privacy)
I have created a Family Group Tree, but there are a few living people I DO NOT want visible to the group because of privacy. I carefully made sure to add them to the FamilySearch Tree, but because they're connected with other living people in the Family Group Tree, they were added to the Group Tree instead.
I have no idea how this happened since I was so careful to make sure it wouldn't.
At this point, how can I remove them from the group?

To remove a person profile from a Family Group Tree, simply delete the profile using the Delete Person option on the Tools menu. You may be somewhat surprised to discover that this option is more available for living profiles in a FGT than you might expect.

@Alan E. Brown How can I make sure that they get added to the right tree when I add them? This problem has cost me hours. I carefully make sure I'm in one tree before added and then they get added to the other. It's driving me crazy. I've had to redo so much work. Also, when I'm looking in one tree, it switches me to the other all the time.

As a follow-on, when I created individuals in FGT, and then used their ID to tag them in memories, the Tagging page shows them as "Private Person" when they are in the FGT. It caused me confusion about if I had created the people in the Group or in Family Search Tree. More control here seems warranted.

@Kip Twitchell, I agree that it can get confusing. I wonder if it would be possible for group profiles to be labeled as a new category "Shared Person".

The label later changes to the name of the FGT. I think it is a bug in the system when the tag is first created.

@RebeccaHGomes There are some automatic adds when you are adding from you FamilySearch (private) tree. When you are adding from the Tree mode, the system will automatically add all individuals to connect between you and that person. So if you click to add your nephew, the system will add your sister and your parents to connect your nephew to you. Note, however that there was a bug in the system that automatically added the spouse if you added one of your children. That should be fixed, but you may have these extra members because of that bug. As @Alan E. Brown said, you should be able to just delete those extra people that you don't want.

Where is the tools menu mentioned above? I am using the computer to access FGT and I need to delete some duplicates added to my FGT from the private tree(Ex: My mom is sisters with herself right now). I am an admin and have been looking on the tree, person list, and family groups tab and still can't find anything.

@RebeccaHGomes I feel your frustration with this! The trees switch depending on what you've done in other browser tabs so when you go back to the browser tab with the person's profile page it can be showing the wrong tree. I've been using the add person box to help determine which tree I'm on. I've noticed that when I'm on the group tree and adding a person, the create person box now has a new tab to add someone "from familysearch tree." Whereas if I'm on the main familysearch tree the add person box just has the tabs to add "by name" or "by id number"

@BGPSW It is intentional that you are only in one tree at a time, no matter which tab or window you are in. If you want to copy information or compare between two different trees, you will need to open them in two different browsers…such as one in Chrome & and another in Edge.
