Ideas of where to find maps that would identify specific pieces of land
Hello,
I'm looking to identify specific pieces of land in 1920s in Poland in the area of Wydminy & Masuchowka. I have pictures of my great grandmother on what was then her son's farm, and I wanted to be able to see where she lived. I have the land records, so I know specific plot numbers, but I don't know how to identify them in terms of current street numbers.
Does anyone have an idea where I might be able to find such a map if one exists? I have looked at cadastral maps in Austrian areas - this is the kind of thing I'm hoping to find.
Thanks for any direction you might be able to give me.
Best regards,
Susanne

Susanne, you may contact Archiwum Panstwowe w Olsztynie, Phone number: +48 89 535 92 72 Fax number: +48 89 527 60 96
E-mail: sekretariat@olsztyn.ap.gov.pl Website: http://www.olsztyn.ap.gov.pl and they will be glad to assist you for a research fee.
In the meantime, you may use the current map from pilot.pl or mapa.szukacz.pl , Download the map, X the advertisements, click on Ukryj next to Hotele to eliminate all the H's which are hotel advertisements, enter Wydminy in the top box, then click on the site on map and move your mouse without pressing on it to other locations to see the distance in kilometers in the right lower corner in a red box. You may use circles to zoom in and zoom out to see the current details of the land.
You may also try meyersgaz.org or meyrsgaz.com and enter Widminen - German equivalent of Wydminy. Again you may zoom in and out to see the details of the map.
Another place of maps that could be of interest to you could be Kartenmeister.com Enjoy your research.

Thank you, Maria. I appreciate your response. I looked at the mapa.szukacz.pl and saw that you could input numbers for addresses. I wonder if my land number is the same as the number that is listed today. I will have to call Olsztyn Archiv to see what they can tell me. I was there this summer and looked up other things in that archive. I wish I had thought to ask them then!
You're wonderful. Thanks for your help!
