Any person living in the farm can be called with that farm name and those persons might not even be related to each other. E.g. farm workers can have several different farm names during their life time when they move from place to place. One of my distant grand mother was known with 3 farm names.

What a coincidence seeing this question and answer. Just last night, thanks to @Charlotte Noelle Champenois I learned my great x2 grandfather's last name was Grydgaard. Family stories were he was a "farm hand" (clearly US term) on the Gru gaard farm outside of Holstebro Denmark. My great grandfather grew up on that farm, I was told. So the closeness in the farm name and the person name is no coincidence! Interesting! My uncle and great grandfather visited that farm in 1945 or 46 after liberation. My uncle was in the US Army and was able to go to Denmark at some point after VE day to visit his grandfather. I wonder if the farm is still there...
