Madiswil BE - marriage - 1835 - Wälchli - groom's name
This is a marriage record in town of Madiswil, Bern, Switzerland. Date is 10 July 1835. It appears that marriage bans were announced June 21, 28 & July 5. Is there a place name on the first line? Please translate all of 2nd line, especially the name of the groom, his father's name, etc. I believe the 3rd line has the bride as Elisabeth Wälchli, father is Ulrich, and they are from Madiswil.
Is this the correct way to ask a question. Would you prefer the URL?
Thank you so much, Edna Walchli Stratford

The marriage took place in Roggwÿl (today Roggwil).
Groom is Jakob Andreas Rämi, Joh(ann) Jacobs sel., ein Wittwer, Schullehrer, von und zu Madiswÿl.
Bride is Elisabeth Wälchli, Ulrichs von und zu Madiswÿl.
Jakob Andreas Rämi was the son oft he late Johann Jacob, himself a widower an school teacher.
Elisabeth Wälchli was the daughter of Ulrich (likely still alive).
Bothwere citizens of Madiswil and actually lived there. The question is: why did the get married in Roggwil?
And - yes - to quote the URL is always useful.

Thank you, thank you so very much. It is wonderful to be back in touch with you. Yes, my questions were answered and the additional information is much appreciated. The surname of Rämi is new to me in my Swiss ancestry so I wanted to make certain that it was correct. I have searched Madiswil records for children of Jakob Andreas and Elisabeth but have not been successful. I will now try Roggwil and hopefully there will be something there.
I also sent a question on the cemetery record for Elisabeth.
Again, thank you for your help and speedy reply.

Whenever you want to check a name spelling you are not familiar with - the source is https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/index.php?lg=e. Just keep in mind that this source lists the official spellings today - you'll find spelling variations in earlier records.

Thank you, I will keep that on mind. On Rämi, I had never seen that name before.
Have you seen a question about a cemetery record? Guess I will look for that again and see what my question was.

You mean a cemetery record question posted here by you? You had recently posted https://community.familysearch.org/de/discussion/152460/madiswil-be-death-1836-waelchli-husbands-name - are you looking for a cemetery record for him? It is not very likely that such records exist for this time: in German speaking countries graves are usually "recycled" after about 20-25 years, unless it is the grave of an important person. Records will date a bit further back - but you cannot rely on this.
Or were you looking for an older post? Then I don't know - and unfortunately finding old posts on this community is not very user-friendly (to word it politely). This is why I had suggested a certain structure for discussion titles: really helps when looking for earlier posts.
