Need Help Verifying Parents or finding parents of Elizabeth Desy of Virginia

Hi,

I need help finding or verifying the parents of my g-g-g-grandmother. The information I have:

Name: Elizabeth DESY (LHZN-349)

Born: about 1812 (according to the 1850 & 1870 U.S. censuses).

Birthplace: Virginia (according to the 1850 & 1870 censuses)

Her husband: Moore LUMPKIN (LHZN-3WG)

Marriage Date and Place: 21 May 1838 in Rockingham, North Carolina

Elizabeth DESY is listed as one of twelve children on the family tree in FamilySearch but the family surname is GUERRANT (parents are Thomas Porter Guerrant and Elizabeth Spain Ellington) and all the siblings have the last name of Guerrant. I don't see any sources for Elizabeth Desy or the other eleven siblings that link them to the parents. So I don't trust that the parents in FamilySearch are actually her parents.

Thank you in advance for any help verifying or finding Elizabeth Desy's parents.

From the following link in Family Tree in FamilySearch which shows the pedigree chart it appears that Elizabeth Desy (LHZN-349) listed under children of Thomas Porter Guerrant (L12Y-95Y) and Elizabeth Spain Ellington (LHZT-CPD) could have been adopted or at very least was taken in by the Guerrants. All the other 11 children listed have the surname Guerrant. Elizabeth Desy (1812–Deceased), Moore Lumpkin (1802–Deceased) • Landscape View • Family Tree • FamilySearch. If you haven’t already you may want to contact some of the sources listed and ask if they can provide information regarding why Elizabeth Desy is listed with a different surname. 

 

In addition, there are a number of sources listed who input references for the siblings of Eilzabeth Desy’s parents, Thomas (6) and Elizabeth (15) who could be contacted and perhaps provide additional information regarding why Elizabeth Desy’s surname was different than her siblings. It does appear that between the Guerrant, Ellington and Lumpkin family lines that there were a number of relatives living within close proximity of each other primarily in Rockingham County, North Carolina.
