Dypvåg, Norway pre-1500
Hi, I have been working on my family tree which is directly linked to Gunder Jonsen ID# G361-635. I stopped at Gunder Jonsen as the community indicated there was historical dispute regarding Gunder Jonsen's father and as such the was no further link to the tree beyond his father. I have fully researched Gunder Jonsen's historical presence in Dypvåg and understand the issue. However, today I was looking at the tree and there has been a link added for his father - Jon Björnssen ID# LCZF-ZC2. This link now attaches the next multiple generations back to the 1200s. Has there been change? Is the community confident that Jon Björnssen is Gunder Jonsen's father and the links to his grandfather, great grandfather etc are historically accurate. Your assistance in understanding this linking on FamilySearch is appreciated.

There is no community that evaluates anything that is done in Family Tree. It's just the various users who are working on their families just like you. You should contact the user that did the merge that gave Gunder a father to discuss why that user evaluated the situation and came to a different conclusion than other people or sources you have had contact with. It may be that that user is bringing back old information that researchers of this family now say is incorrect.
Unfortunately, one of the hardest things to do in genealogy is to stamp out information that has been proven wrong but is easy to find in old books.
