Conflicting Records
I'm looking for the parents of Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer (G28M-5B1), who married Anna Catharine Marie Möller geb. Borcherding on 20 October 1800 in Husum, Nienburg, Preußen.
His marriage record lists his father as (the deceased) Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer and his residence as Schessinghausen, a small village within the Husum parish.
Looking at the parish's 1774 resident register (created after a fire burned all pre-1774 church records), I can only find one Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer in Schessinghausen. The record lists a Johann Heinrich Hoffmeier and wife Anne Margarethe Meier and a son Johann Heinrich, born 1773.
This seems like the Johann Heinrich born 1773 from this record could be the person I'm looking for. Father's name, place of residence, and year of birth all check out. But then the register notes that this child died in 1783. The parish death records back that up:
Checking the parish birth records for other children of the elder Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer and his wife, I found a record for another son, Johann Diedrich Ernst Hoffmeyer, born 12 Feb 1776:
He was the only other child that the elder Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer had, since he died the next year, on 12 Oct 1777:
His widow gets married again in 1779 to a Johann Diedrich Brökelmann:

So, there seems to be some issue in the records. Either:
- The place of residence and/or father's name was miswritten in the 1800 marriage record
- The 1783 death record for the 10-year-old Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer was actually referring to his then-6-year-old brother Johann Diedrich Ernst
- The marriage record incorrectly wrote the name of the groom (and it actually should have been Johann Diedrich Ernst Hoffmeyer instead of Johann Heinrich Hoffmeyer)
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thank you so much in advance!
