I'd appreciate a translation of the attached marriage record for Georg Friedrich Hammel and Magdalena Catharina Zeiher. I'm particularly puzzled by the entry at the bottom of the record that suggests that the marriage took place in July 1820 even though it's being recorded in July 1824.

Thank you for the translation. Was it unusual for the marriage to be registered 4 years after it occurred?

Yes, that's quite unusual. Unfortunately, the record doesn't contain any reason why.

The scribe seems to have made an error in writing the year. 20 July 1820 was a Thursday but 20 July 1824 was indeed a Tuesday.
His first wife (Eva Rosina) died in childbirth on 1 Jan 1824 so this marriage occurred in 1824:

That's possible. But why did he then write a year at all? None of the other records has any.

That is a mystery! If there was some special reason he felt the need to write in the year on this record then it seems he would have been careful to write it correctly.
It looks like he married Eva Rosina in 1813 and that they remained married until her 1 Jan 1824 death. The 1813 marriage is here:
