Surname Help
In this record, is Sebastian's surname Gössel, Gösel, or Göfel? I have access to other records for Sebastian and his relatives. The records for these individuals have all been indexed with one of these three variations. I know they are all the same family. I am just trying to be as accurate as possible. I am including two links, one for Sebastian's marriage and another for his son's baptism.
I know these records are hard to read. Thank you so much for your help!

Becky,
I checked in Meyersgaz.org for Rimbach, trying to find where this town is, but there are 14 Rimbachs, so this was no help.
I checked in geogen.stoepel.net, which is a surname distribution map for Germany and the only one that brought up results was Gösel. There was nothing for the other two spellings. When you check that, be sure to add the umlaut on top of the o. Based on that result, I think your correct spelling is Gösel. Remember that spelling wasn't standardized in Germany until later, so there can be all sorts of spellings for place names and the names of people.

This Rimbach was in Heppenheim. Thank you for looking. I am still hoping someone can look at the document to see what they see. I can post other documents for this family, if needed.

I read the surname as Göfel. In any case it is just a single letter, not a double.

I, too, read the surname as Göfel.

Thank you for all of your help! It looks like I am going to have to pull up the images for earlier generations to see what they have recorded, plus look at the children's marriage and death records to see if it shows the "f" in the middle. The baptism records I have looked at for the children all look like they have the "f".
