German soldiers stationed in Guernsey in WW2
Hello my daughter is making a documentary about the children of Guernsey, Channel Islands and has interviewed a lot of them who were either on the island during WW2 or evacuated to England. She would love to interview any German soldiers who were stationed in Guernsey to get their perspective because a lot of the children have fond memories of the soldiers kindness towards them. If anybody has a grandparent or great grandparent who would like to share their story please do let me know. She is currently in Germany and is happy to travel.

@RobertWessel I am wondering if you could address this? Thank you. PaulaAnn

You will need to identfy the German regiments that occupied the area. The issue is attrition. Guernsey was occupied 83 years ago by soldiers in their teens and twenties and older. Not many will still be living.
There are a number of veterans organizations for German soldiers of WWII - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:German_veterans%27_organisations
There are a couple of books on the occupation.
Diary of the German Occupation of Guernsey 1940-1945 by J.C. Sauvary
Life in Occupied Guernsey: The Diaries of Ruth Ozanne 1940-1945
There was also a 1962 movie (in Greek, I think) on the subject, To imerologio tis katohis (The Diaries of German Occupation)
The organization, Festung Guernsey has a website dedicated to the occupation and associated research - http://www.festungguernsey.org.gg/index.html
A FaceBook page also exists https://www.facebook.com/groups/108454915212/
