Location of Wittgendorf, Landeshut, Silesia, Prussia
I have been trying to figure out where exactly Wittgendorf, Landeshut, Silesia, Prussia is today. I have a photo of the town dated 1874 with that label on the back. It is the hometown of my ancestors. I think it is in Poland today possibly current day Wroclaw but there are also a couple of other Wittgendorfs that are in Germany.
The story we have been told is that Joseph Rummler was born in Altenburch Bohemia and he hauled freight between Altenburch Bohemia and Silesia. He met his wife Franziska in Wittgendorf and they were married and remained in Wittgendorf. I can't locate Altenburch on any map either to help me locate the correct Wittgendorf. I have been trying to research the history but there have been so many boundary changes and changes in possession by rulers I am confused as to where the boundaries of Bohemia and Silesia were as compared to current day. I believe Bohemia and Silesia bordered each other?
I am assuming the towns of Altenburch Bohemia and Wittgendorf Silesia are somewhat close?
Any help or input would be appreciated.
