German-Czech birth record
The record in question is the last one on ther right side page for Joseph Morawetz. Here is was I think it is saying. Please, inform me of any of my facts that are incorrect:
- Date of birth- 9 Sep 1819
- house # is 62
- Child's name is Joseph Morawetz; I believe the word in front of the name is the name of the village...Ledetsch
- The child is male and legitimate
I am not sure of the information in the father's and mother's column or the column for the witnesses.
Link for the record: https://vademecum.nacr.cz/vademecum/permalink?xid=075d0bcf-353c-4607-ab28-ee4815873446&scan=1fa37b8632075c5d9b56be95758cf16d
Please, take a look at the archive's page describing this record set at the link below. I had to right-click on the British flag in the upper right to change to English; just clicking didn't work.
Am I correct in assuming that this family is Jewish according to this description? Also, the child just above Joseph is named Abraham, an often-used name in the Jewish community and I see the word Israel farther up that same page.

I agree with your interpretation of the record.
Here is what I read for the father: Moyses Morawe (possibly an abbreviation of Morawetz), bürgerlicher Rothgärbermeister in Ledetsch (citizen master tanner in Ledetsch). A Rotgerber is a tanner specialized on producing hard leather from cowhides (see https://wiki.genealogy.net/Rotgerber)
I read the mother's name as Mariand Nettel.
I am not sure about the witnesses.
The father's name Moyses (Moses) as well as many other first names on this page (Sallamo, Isack, Samuel, Sara) seem to be typical Jewish, but I can't see any verification about their faith.

Ulrich, thank you for your reply. did you look at that second link that was from the archive describing the record set? It seems to say this is a Jewish record book. Am I interpreting that correctly?

Hello Steve,
I was able to translate the description in the second link from Czech to English (and German). It says:
ALPHABETICAL LIST OF JEWISH CONTROL REGISTERS KEPT AT ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH OFFICES IN THE TERRITORY OF THE FORMER PROTECTORATE OF BOHEMIA AND MORAVIA
So it seems to be correct that all entries in this list are of Jewish people. The lists were originally kept by the catholic parishes and apparently claimed by the Nazi administration (Sippenamt) during the German occupation 1943.
