show descendants, more than four generations

You can click the arrow next to a person's name to show more descendants.
As long as you see an arrow pointing to the right, there are more descendants to view.
An arrow pointing down indicates that the descendants are already viewable.

Thanks Anne -- I have used that method, and it does work. But when you have an ancestor from a long time ago, with lots of descendants, it takes me about twenty minutes to manually expand the tree. And then if you refresh the web page, or if you take a break for lunch and come back, causing an automatic refresh when you resume your work, all that work is lost. You have to start over.
I guess one alternative is instead of expanding one tree back, say, 7 generations, expand as many trees as there are, 3 generations later. That could be quite a few trees to expand and manage. I wonder why they stopped at four?

I guess it kind of depends why you need to expand the entire tree past 4 generations?
if you are trying to generate some report of descendants, for example - - you are better off using a program like Rootsmagic - downloading all the descendants and then running a descendants report out of Rootsmagic - instead of out of FamilyTree.
Familytree just was never designed to be able to process many thousands of records in a single personal report/view. (as compared to a locally installed database like Rootsmagic - that is much better tuned to do this - and isn't limited by the resources of your browser and your Internet like FamilySearch is)
But the numbers can really explode across 6-10 generations and more. and if you are starting with a person in the 1600's the number of descendants can be in the millions.
