My question is, how would I find out what happened to the orphans?
My great-great-grandmother Anna Maria Mithofer Hehmeyer was the second in a family with 9 children.
In 1840, her mother died at the birth of a child and a year later her father died. This left 7 minor children aged 1 to 15 years, my ancestor was 17 and her brother 21 years old.
The grandparents died in front of their parents.
The search ID of my ancestor family is GDTP-H2L.
My question is, how would I find out what happened to the orphans?

Dear MrYellab:
Do you have an Ancestry account? I went to mine and found Anna Maria Elisabeth Mithofer with her husband Johann Frederick Hehmeyer, and their children. He was born 13 Nov 1823 and died 7 Nov 1907 in Missouri, USA. I have always been able to get a snip before but not today.
If you do not have an Ancestry account, you can go to a FamilySearch library and access it through their portal for free. To find a FamilySearch library near you, just click on the maps icon at the right-hand corner of the FamilySearch screen and then "Locate a Center".
To find your family in Ancestry, click "Search at the top of the screen" and then "Public Member Tree" towards the bottom" I was successful by searching for the children.
We wish you much success and patience on your journey. I know from experience that this takes tons of patience. PaulaAnn
