If a widow, why no maiden name?
If I understand this 1853 burial record right, Anna Maria Singer was "verwittibt, früher verheirathat in Möerzheim". I couldn't find the word verwittibt (is it something else?), but assume it means "widow, formerly married in Möerzheim." Presumably Singer is her married name, but no maiden name is given, which seems unusual. I am interested in confirming because she is a possible match for Anna Maria Singer b. 1785 in the Billigheim area. What's your interpretation?

Yes, you are correct, Wittib is another word for Wittwe, and verwittibt means the same as verwittwet.
It is unclear from this record alone if Singer is her maiden name or married name, as the name of her deceased husband is not given. See however the following record which names Katharina Bossert as widow of Ludwig Schwarz (and she is called the daughter of Valentin Bossert), so Bossert is her maiden name. So if the same rule applies for Anna Maria, Singer would be her maiden name.
