Strange maiden name
The 1777 death record for my ancestor lists the wife for one of his sons but I'm having a hard time making out the spelling. I cannot find any other surnames in other name registers that seem to match. I did find a marriage record for Johann Odefey and and Maria Peters in 1775 in the same village. Please help.
My transcription:
Johann Odefey,
[verheiratet?] [?]
Maria geb: [Fog:? or Foy:?]
[gen? or yen?], aus [Osten?]
[?] [braut?]
[?] in Ber:
genhusen

It belief it says:
Johann Odefey, verheiratet an Maria geb. Foggen, aus Oströp,
Kirchspiel Brüns, wohnhaft in Bergenhausen
Johann Odefey, married to Maria nee Foggen, of Oströp, church parish Brüns, residing in Bergenhausen
However, I can't seem to put all those place names together, it would be helpful to know the source,
where you found this record.
Have a wonderful day, Marion

I was in a hurry when I posted that question. The church parish for that 1777 death record was Bergenhusen, Kirchenkreis Schleswig-Flensburg.

If those were villages nearby to Bergenhusen (which I would presume to be so since folks stayed close to home in those days), I cannot find either "Oströp" or "Brüns" in Meyers Gazetteer.
There is a village "Ostrohe" https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20432021 that is not too distant from Bergenhusen.
If the maiden name was written "Foggen" as it looks, I presume the actual surname would be "Fogg" but I have never come across that family name in any of my research.
There is another reference to Johann's wife, in his father's 1786 death record, that reads more like "Függen"...

There is also a reference to Johann's wife, in his daughter's 1776 death record, that also reads more like "Fuggen"...

What further complicates the issue is that there is a 1775 marriage register between Johann Odefey of Bergenhusen and Maria Peters, not "Fogg" or "Fugg". However, that Maria appears to be from the same village and Kirchspiel as the Maria "Fugg" in the other records.

WHAT FUN!

I just realized that the last image I posted of the 1775 marriage register lists Maria's father as...
"des Andreas Peters [Füg or Füy] in [Ostrug or Ostruy] Kirchspiels Brüns"
Now I'm wondering whether "Füg" / "Füy" is an occupation, rather than a family name.
Can someone offer any insight on this question?
