Jumping thru loops
After Sources are added, do I have to skip twice to get to the Details or Ordinances of a person?
Why not adding "Details" and "Ordinances" after the name
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/sources/sourceBox?context
"Jost Maxem Deceased Male G37M-HXQ"
Do I have to exit from Source Box, to get into Sources before I can get to Details or Ordinances? More complicated if in smartphones.

I'd really like to understand what you are saying here. Is this three different issues/ideas or the same concept request? What do you mean by skip twice?

Dumb familysearch robots won't allow links
In Sourcebox, after source is selected
Here's the problem
<-- Johann Streidt 12 April 1829 – Deceased • Male GD2Z-VZT
click the name, it goes to Sources list.
Has to click "details" here to exit the Source list to get to Details.
How about inserting "details" here instead of having to go through 2 loops to get to the Details?

Are you requesting that the Source Box look like this?

Or like this?

So that you can jump directly to the section you want to go to rather than going there via the person's source page?

Gordon,
Here's the attached graph without the line seen in proposed graphs above.
I use Source box a lot to save my time doing a lots of repeats.

Yes, your image is the current state of things. My images are my photoshopped proposals of what I think you are hoping to have added. Was my understanding of your idea correct? Should the designers pay any attention to my random tinkering? Or should they just ignore me because you are asking for something else entirely?

Either one of your 2 proposals to resolve this matter are fine.

Thanks for the clearification and ideas.

I think the version on the first picture it's much superior due to requiring less scrolling (vertical space to display the same info.
Also, the white text on blue background it's much more confortable to read than the black text on grey background.
As in this picture from this discussion thread

Blue on white is quite glaring and hard to read. back text is much easier on my eyes. just my personal opinion

Kathy,
Blue text is always hypertexted - the rule.
Red text is hypertexted after a visit.- the rule
And as for these graphs above - that is only for purpose of displaying here. The size depends on the size of your monitor.

@W D Samuelsen contact me please
I find the small blue text easier to read than the small black text.
The black text kinds of blends with the background.
I guess another alternative would be black text on white background.
Maybe if just as you can change the order of sections in the new person page. every user had the option to customize the colors that would kind of help.

My purpose in the other thread in posting the image contrasting the blue and black text was to demonstrate how much easier it is to read the black text and how much clear it is.
By the way, the custom, not rule, in the antiquity of the web of only using blue for hypertext just isn't needed on a page like the Detail page where about 95% of the page is a link to something else. If every part of the page that was clickable was blue, the page would be almost solid blue, even most of the white background.

This conversation about the child blocks in the Family Members section brought a fun new find. The names are not traditional hypertext. The clickable area for the name has been expanded to basically the entire block for the child except for the ID number and the relationship edit pencil icon. You can click on the icon, the name, the dates, and almost all the white space to open the summary card.
Even better, if the summary card is open, clicking on the name takes you to that child's detail page. Clicking elsewhere, the icon, dates, or white space just closes the summary card. But this means you can click on the name to open the summary card then without moving the mouse pointer at all click again to jump. Even better, you can just double click on the name (not traditional hypertext behavior) and bypass the summary card altogether, instead just going directly to the child's page.

I understand that, I have my settings on my computer to never do that as it is too hard on my eyes. Just pointing out that blue is much harder to read than black for some of us

Kathy, did you read what Gordon said ?
Just click on the box of each person. It pops up much easier than trying to move mouse to the name.

I did see that, thank you though for making sure. 🙂 It does not actually matter for me because my hyperlinks do not change color. I have my firefox setup that way. I was just putting in my 2 cents. The opening of each child, well, I won't fuss about that, it is what it is. I think a lot of folks will like it! I don't care for it, but we can't have everything now can we? LOL 🙂
