Emigration Document Summary
Hello!
From family lore and documents I believe that a my great grandparents were from opposite sides of Germany:
• Cornelia Nolting, Germany, Preußen, Hannover, Emden
• Carl Heinrich Julius Schultz, Germany, Preußen, Pommern, Stettin
They married in United States, New Jersey, Hudson, Hoboken, and I believed that they did not meet until they were in New Jersey. But, while looking at the records for Emden for permission to leave for Cornelia Nolting, I came across a curious record that might contain the name of my great grandfather Carl, from Stettin.
I am not looking for a translation of this lengthy document, but I would like help to see if any thing in the document might link “C.H.J. Schultz zu Stettin” to my great grandfather Carl Heinrich Julius Schultz. I am trying to determine if the attached documents do in fact reference my Carl in Emden. The facts I have about Carl Heinrich Julius Schultz are:
• He was born in Pommern, reportedly Stettin
• He was born April 1858 (he would have been about 27 at the time of the document)
• He was a tinsmith or sheet metal worker
• He reportedly immigrated to the United States to make tanks for natural gas for the industrialist Andrew Carnegie, and in the United States he worked in shipyards
• He may have “jumped ship”... I’m not sure what this family lore really means
• The first records I have for Carl are his marriage record and a city directory listing for him in Hoboken, New Jersey in both in 1886
Here is the link to the document (pages 597-599):

Any insight into the nature of this document would be great. Thank you for your time!

I only had a quick look: The C.H.J. Schulz in the document was the owner of Stettiner Lloyd, a shipping company - may not really fit a man aged 27 and emigrating. The document is about a contract between Stettiner Lloyd and the government of Argentina about bringing 250 farmer families within 4 years to the Rio Negro region.
So I guess we are talking about two different people - whether there is a relation between them, is a different matter - but I wouldn't bet on it: looks like two different social groups.

Thank you so much for your help! This is exactly the kind of information I needed not to to go down a rabbit hole and spend hours trying to translate the document. This certainly isn't the man I who I am trying to find. I am very grateful for time.
All the best,
Jennifer
