I received a letter from Family search that I have relatives that would help me with my temple work.
My question is where does this list come form and how do they know the people will help. I would be happy to share but don't want to turn them over to someone who may not do them. They are on hold in the temple now and will eventually get done. I would appreciate knowing how this list is composed.
This is the letter I received.
Share Your Reserved Names with Family.
Hello Nickey,
We are happy to inform you that a relative has volunteered to help with your list of reserved names and take them to the temple. You have done a great job of gathering your ancestors through your diligent efforts. Now it's easier than ever to involve living family members, too. Are you willing to share some of your reservations with them? I have about 9 people on 9 different names they want me share.
Thank you for helping me understand this list.

Someone in my ward, who is very active in family history and also gets the temple work done, received a letter asking the opposite. Would he be willing to do the temple work for relatives found and waiting?
I also received a letter informing me that three members were willing to do temple work for my researched person. I clicked on the names to find out how they were related to the person waiting for temple work. Seeing the closer connection they had to my person, I selected a name from the list and gave it to her.
This is a wonderful way for distant relatives to connect and help each other.
Another invention by FamilySearch to hasten the work.

The chances are good that these names came from those who have contributed to your tree at one time or another. I know very few of those who are also working on my collateral lines. You can also call Support and ask where FS gets the names they are putting in these outreach emails.

Nickey: Are you are saying that you previously shared these names with the temple? If so, it is probably better for you to share them with those have offered to do them. My experience has been that when a name is shared with the temple, it takes longer for the work to get done than if you share it with someone who has requested it.
I'm also wondering where the list comes from. I have personally requested for some distant relatives that I don't know who have shared family names with the temple to release them so that I could do them. My guess is that whoever is on that list may have contacted Family Search to see about getting these names released rather than contacting you personally. Kathleen Bray has a good suggestion to call FS Support and ask where they get the names they are putting in these outreach emails.

They look for people who have not printed cards for a while, but have done so in the past. They ask if they are willing to help a relative do some temple work. Then they look at users with plenty of names and ask them if they would be willing to share. If they both say yes, then they check to see if there is a common relative that needs work. If so, the one with the names is emailed with the name of the cousin and if you click it shares the name with them just like it would if you typed in their name and email address yourself. The only difference is, I was not aware I had a relative on this particular line in the church, so it was very helpful to me. She accepted the name right away and is proceeding with finished the work. I view it as a win win!

That happens to many people. I find that I have the same issue. Though just recently, I tracked back a name and found it does connect to mine and I did not have the connection!! So in some ways it works great!
