Thank you Ellie, I have the information from the memory book. My father Ivan and uncle Pavel are listed. Both missing. My father lived through the POW camps and moved to the USA. I have traced my grandfathers farm to Bogorod, the village was Shalaevo which no longer exists. I was hoping to get information in Bogorod on another uncle Piotr who lived on the farm with my grandmother and had three children who were born about the same time I was (1948). I was hoping that his children still live in Bogorod and would not mind being contacted. It would be such a joy to have conversation(? I don't speak Russian) and maybe pictures of a family I know nothing about. No uncles, aunts or grandparents when I was growing up. They are probably gone, but there may be cousins. Thank you

Probably the best way to see if there are any family members living is to use the All Russia Family Tree website. Here is a link: https://vgd.ru/
The site is in Russian, but if you use Google Chrome browser, you can easily right click and translate to English. They have a genealogical forum, organized by surname. You could create a post there to see if anyone might have some information for you. The surname is Ходырев in Russian.
You might also try using the Russian social media platform VK (v kontakte - https://vk.com) to see if you can find anyone with that surname in the Bogorod region.
Also, I looked him up in Pamyat Naroda and found this record, there is a scan of the original! Based on the birth place you provided, I believe this could be a match - Ivan born in Shalaevo, on 14 October 1907. If it is, let me know and I can translate the information. There may also be other documents in the database.
