Standardized Place Names
I don't know where else to suggest this. I recently made an entry where FS gave the standardized place name as Esphult, Kristianstad, Sweden Lutheran Parish. Whereas in ArkivDigital the spelling is Äsphult. It would be nice if they were consistent. Is there a better place to make this suggestion?

I just came across Djurröd (Görröd) in ArchivDigital where an alternate spelling is included. Perhaps FS could include alternate spellings in a similar way Esphult (Äsphult) for example

More questions on standardized place names. I have a birth record in Rya, Kristianstads län. There are lots of Rya place names, but none that are for a parish Rya in Kristianstads. How do we get that added, or is it listed under another county because of boundary changes?

I have edited your requests:
Esphult, Kristianstad, Sweden Lutheran Parish has name Äsphult, but with variant name Esphult.
Djurröd has the variant name Görröd.
Rya, Kristianstads, Sweden, Parish is listed.
You can also suggest corrections to the standardized places or if the place is missing, then you can suggest new places to be added:
Search existing places and if correct place is missing, you can suggest new ones.

Heidi,
Thanks for your help. So I tried the url you listed to try to enter Halmstad (Lutheran Parish) in Hallands county. It did not like anything I typed in. I selected "Place of Worship" because that seemed as close as any of the options. It did not like the s on the end of Hallands (the way it is spelled in ArkivDigital), and I tried to indicate that the language was Swedish rather than English - did not like that either. All in all, it was not a very positive experience. It does not seem to be set up to suggest parishes.
If I look on Research Wiki, it suggests 4 parishes, one of which is Halmstad Stadförsamling, which I assume could be the same as the Halmstad parish that I find on ArchiveDigital, but usually Stadförsamling is included in the parish name in ArkivDigital if that is the parish name. So I am basically confused because I expect names to match between FS and ArkivDigital.

Hello,
Yes, when you are suggesting new places, you select Place of Worship for Lutheran Parish even it says that Place of Worship is more like a church or something.
s on the end of Halland means possession and it is used when you want to say the province of Halland = Hallands län. Halland without the s is the name of that province. For me it worked, I just tried. When you write the parent place like Halland's province, you start writing "Halland," as if you would write Halland, Sweden and when you write the "," you will get all places which have Halland in their name. If you just write Halland, it will stay grey and it will not accept it. It expects that parent place name is fully written, all the way to the country name.
Those 4 parishes in Research Wiki are:
- Halmstad, Malmöhus, Sweden
- Halmstad stadsförsamling (this is the old Halmstad Lutheran Parish, name did not include stadsförsamling, here FS has added it)
- Halmstad Sankt Nikolai Parish, Halland (Halmstad changed the name to Sankt Nikolai at 1962)
- Halmstad Martin Luther Parish, Halland (When Halmstad changed it's name, the Lutheran Parish was also divided and Martin Luther was established at 1962)
Halmstad (Lutheran Parish) in Hallands county was listed in FS, but it had its name Sankt Nikolai listed. Now it can be found.
If you see any parishes missing, it might be easier to send message to me. Place names of Sweden are still in a quite a bit mess, but we are slowly working with them.
